I think I got two chapters into it and couldn't take it any more. Maybe I can handle it now that I'm older. Probably not. I saw a movie a few years back about James Joyce. We turned it off about halfway through. It was pretty vile. Now I'm no prude, but really, there are better things to watch or read. I mentioned it to my mom and she said, "Yeah, that's the way his books are." I haven't wanted to read anything by him because of it. So, what did you think of Ulysses? It is true that I almost gave up on East of Eden several times because of some of the nastiness in it, and now it is my favorite book. I started to read Moby Dick.
